Our second meeting featured “Part One” of BSA’s Troop Leadership Training (TLT) program. We discussed how the troop is made up of patrols (teams) of 6-8 scouts. We talked about the many different leadership positions and “Positions of Responsibility” such as Troop Scribe, Troop Historian, etc. We worked through a segment about scout advancement ranks, “sign offs” in the Boy Scout Handbook and Merit Badges.
The Scoutmaster Minute (devotional) was focused on the second point of the Scout Law – A Scout Is Loyal. We discussed what it means to be loyal, and we thought about examples of loyalty that were demonstrated in the Bible. Scouts brought up names like Ruth (being loyal to Naomi); Noah being loyal to God to build the ark and David being loyal to both Jonathan and Saul (despite Saul’s attempts to kill David).
We concluded the meeting with some Physical Training, led by our resident CAP member, Ryan C.
