Tonight’s meeting continued our theme of getting ready for the superbowl of Scouting — the annual Klondike Derby!
We spent much of the evening working on our “knots”. In the woods, if you’ve got knot skills, rope and branches, you can build most anything! At home we use tools like hammers, drills and screwdrivers to construct furniture or make home repairs, but in the woods we can set up shelters, make bridges, tables and even signal towers. (I’ve seen photos of a manually operated ferris wheel ride made entirely from dead wood and rope lashings!)
We collected our popcorn sales orders and our troop finally split into two patrols: Stealth Patrol and “to be named” Patrol.
We congratulated our new Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (Kurtis W.) and our new Patrol Leaders: Josh F. (Stealth) and Thomas C. (“to be named”).
Our devotional was on “A Scout is Helpful”.
Upcoming troop activities include Bowling and Army v. Navy Men’s Basketball at West Point.
