NO MEETING NEXT WEEK (3/7/2011)
The troop enjoyed a very busy meeting this week. We heard the remainder of Stealth Patrol’s presentations on Camping Merit Badge requirement #5; we started working on the FBC food pantry service project by moving the goods up from the basement to a temporary storage closet; we discussed how to plan camp outs including what to bring and food/menu prep.
For the upcoming campout, the Stealth Patrol will have five Scouts and the Lancers will have four. To maximize the opportunities for Scouts to complete their advancement requirements, the two patrols will operate independently during the campout rather than form one mix/match patrol.
While the troop has a cabin available for use, some scouts are planning to camp in tents to fulfill other requirements. Scoutmaster Farrell has spare tents to loan to these scouts and will bring them along for any scout who makes a specific request to borrow or share one.
Upcoming trips include the New Life Island Service Weekend trip near the end of March, the USMA West Point Orienteering Workshop in April, and a newly announced trip on part of Memorial Day weekend for those scouts who are available to attend. The trip will be to Wawayanda State Park where they have many fun activities such as swimming in the lake, a beach, boat rentals and miles of trails to explore.
We didn’t complete the meeting with a devotional on “Thrifty” as planned due to time constraints.
THERE IS NO MEETING NEXT WEEK — 3/7/2011 — due to the FBC missions conference — all are welcome to visit FBC for the missions conference.
