Last night, we had a visitor to our troop. He’s interested in joining the program, too. This is great news since we’ve got one scout who has “aged out” and another who is going off to college this fall.
The patrols played “ultimate frisbee” on the lawn, and we presented merit badges and related awards to several scouts. Three scouts recently returned from a week at summer camp (one couldn’t attend with the rest of our troop earlier in the summer and two attended to get additional work completed at camp).
We spent part of the troop meeting working on essential scout skills and our troop’s advancement coordinator and committee chair conducted three Boards of Review. We graduated a new Tenderfoot, Second Class and First class scout during the course of the meeting! We’ll have some additional scouts sitting before the board for Tenderfoot very soon.
We also covered the details of two upcoming trips — USMA Scout Day Football on September 17th and our camping trip to Sandy Hook National Park for the Oceanography Merit Badge program offered by New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium (NJSGC) in October. Scouts who wish to attend the Football game need to let Scoutmaster Farrell know ASAP with a firm commitment so that we can order the right number of tickets!
