Last night was an unusual meeting in that we did a service project, conducted a flag ceremony for another group’s meeting, did a post-trip debrief, held multiple scoutmaster conferences, shuffled our patrol membership and held troop elections.
The North Jersey Home Schoolers association (NJHSA) held its annual meeting at our charter organization’s facility. Since many of our scouting families are also involved in NJHSA, we asked if we could help by setting up tables and chairs, etc. We also arranged to clean up at the end and put away the equipment that was used.
As part of the NJHSA meeting, our troop conducted a flag ceremony and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Following the pledge, the scouts were dismissed to our normally scheduled meeting in another part of the building.
The troop did a post-trip debrief from this weekend’s visit to the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. Three of the scouts who attended completed American Heritage merit badge and Law merit badge: others have completed many of the requirements and can meet with a counselor to complete the work at a later time.
The troop continues to work on advancement and several scouts are scheduling Boards of Review in advance of December’s Court of Honor.
The troop re-elected Steve F. as SPL and he appointed Kurtis W. as ASPL. The patrols underwent some fine-tuning and then they elected Patrol Leaders — Thomas C. and Josh F. Various scouts have been approached for appointment to Positions of Responsibility within the troop and will be notified by email directly of their new appointments.
Popcorn will be picked up in bulk this weekend for distribution at next week’s troop meeting.
