Over the course of the summer, our troop is working closely with troop # 777; # 2678; and # 144 to host a series of inter-troop merit badge workshops focused on key eagle required badges.
The workshops, hosted by merit badge counselors (MBCs), are designed to accomplish two purposes:
- Enable scouts to get started working on badges of interest regardless of whether they had the opportunity to get to a summer camp program
- Enable scouts who’ve completed partials in these badges, to demonstrate further mastery of the requirements and receive credit for completing more of the curriculum.
This upcoming session will be scheduled for MONDAY, July 16 beginning at 7pm at First Baptist Church of Hackensack, NJ (15 Conklin Place, Hackensack, NJ 07601, but parking is accessed off of either Passaic Street or Park Street behind the main church building.
This session replaces a normally scheduled troop meeting for Troop 113.
Unless scouts already have a partial, it is very unlikely that they will complete either badge during the evening; however, they may subtantially complete many of the requirements, and if they’ve done pre-work ahead of the program, they may complete several additional requirements.
There are pre-meeting assignments that MUST be completed prior to the workshop for Communications — Mr. Farrell will outline those to you when you RSVP by email (preferred) or by phone.
Please be sure to have read the booklets for these merit badges, and bring print-outs of the merit badge worksheets available at http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page. In addition, please be sure to secure your blue cards!
