Reminder to troop families and visitors — we will NOT be meeting this week due to a combination of factors – vacation bible school in the evenings (using our primary and secondary meeting spaces) and the need for a short break.
We are planning to resume our meetings the following week (8/13/2012) at 7 PM. We are planning:
- a patrol competition and education drill. Please take time to review your Tenderfoot-Second Class-First Class skills (found in your handbook). Hint — it’s one of the events from our first Klondike competition.
- to work on our calendar of outings/events for September, October and November. Please review the opportunities list that was previously shared by email and in paper handouts. If you don’t have them handy, think about what’s more important to you — camping, hiking or going to scout-themed events such as West Point Football Scout Day, etc.
- If you’re already signed up for the Belleplain Forest Trip (mid-August) (two families have confirmed their intent to go), then you’ll need to determine meal planning, logistics, etc.
We’ll also continue our exploration of leadership development within the scouting program (BE-KNOW-DO, etc.).
Finally, we’re still on summer uniform protocols — a white tee shirt or our troop tee shirt with shorts is fine — no need to wear the full uniform (we’ll switch back after Labor Day).
Remember, “…the final and chief test of the scout is the doing of a good turn daily, quietly and without boasting…” — help other people at all times and keep yourselves physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
