No troop meeting tonight due to people on vacation, etc. We will meet next week at 7 PM.
Some of our scouts have visited the 2013 National Jamboree at The Summit. Here are some of their observations:
- Had a wonderful time meeting and talking with families and scouters from different areas (of the country).
- We even got to see the king and queen of Sweden while we were in the International Scouting tent.
- We spent some time in the faith section. Got to spend some time talking to Association of Baptists for Scouting.
- David got two Eagle Recognition letters on the spot. Also got a deal on a NESA membership that will take him to 23 years old. It was very inexpensive and eligible because he was less than 6 months from his Eagle BOR.
The National Jamboree is like crossing a county fair with a high-adventure trek and a world’s fair all rolled into one big lump. It only happens every four years, but it’s a great time to be a scout if you can attend – even for a day.
